Gladness Deogratias is a seasoned banker with over 15 years of experience in the financial markets. She is the Head of Global Markets at NMB Bank Plc, one of Tanzania’s leading commercial banks, where she oversees FX and bond trading desks, securities services and transaction advisory services.

Known for her innovation-oriented mindset, Ms. Deogratias has worked with key stakeholders across Tanzania’s financial services industry including the Central Bank of Tanzania and Capital Markets and Securities Authority (CMSA), amongst others. Prior to NMB Bank, Ms. Deogratias worked at Lehman Brothers International Europe in London and BancABC, a part of Atlas Mara, where she was Head of Trading.

Ms. Deogratias is a fierce advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. In 2016, she established the Women Arise Network to foster gender equality, advancement and leadership opportunities for women at NMB Bank Plc. She is also a member of Association of Women Leaders Network (AWLN) – Tanzania Chapter and was one of the first women to be recognized as one of the “Top 100 Sheroes in Tanzania” (2018). In 2020 she was featured as Top 50 Women in Management in Tanzania by Women in Management Africa (WIMA).

Ms. Deogratias holds BA (Hon) Accounting, Finance and Management from Nottingham University and Global MBA from Oxford Brookes University in the UK. She is a 2022 Eisenhower Fellow and serves as a non-executive director on the Tanzanian Mortgage Refinance Company Limited and an Advisory Board member of ProjektInspire, a start- up that inspires youth to enter the STEM field in Tanzania.
